Meet Dr. J.

Rev. Dr. Kimberlee A. Johnson is Founder, President, and Overseer of the Fellowship of Women Clergy. She is a flawsome educator, higher education administrator, Jesus-follower, prophetic preacher, justice advocate, and clergy leader whose love for God and humanity have fueled a lifetime of service in academic, church, and community settings. Dr. J. is also Dean of Palmer Theological Seminary & College at Eastern University — the first African-American woman to hold that role.

Dr. J. has earned several seminary degrees (Master of Arts in Old Testament, Master of Divinity in Counseling, Doctor of Ministry in Urban Missiology) from accredited institutions and is constantly learning in the school of life. She is also an avid urban gardener and is devoted to her family.

She has depth and decades of ministry experience spanning across various socioeconomic, cultural, national, international, generational, and denominational contexts.  She was the first woman ordained at Tasker Street Missionary Baptist Church (ABCUSA) where she led in many capacities.

Luke 4:18-19 has offered a framework for her life and it's guided her in church leadership and community outreach. The Lord has used her to disciple and pour into countless lives from children to adults, from lay people to ministers, from South Philly to South America, from pulpits to prison. She has mentored women in ministry, many of whom now carry the legacy of her work in their ministries.

She also founded a prison education program for incarcerated men and has been a national voice in faith and criminal justice reform. Dr. J. has served as a policy leader for the Christian Community Development Association’s Locked in Solidarity initiative and a board member for faith based organizations such as Christians for Social Action.

As a woman leader who has overcome many painful obstacles, she now supports the spiritual and vocational formation of women ministers through FWC.
